AboutRelease Date: August 15, 2008 Y’all vs. Us explores the histories, people, traditions, and memorable events that have created 15 of the greatest high school football rivalries in Mississippi. Each one of the book’s 15 chapters details the histories of the two rival schools and then explores how the two schools collided on the gridiron, and how the relationship between the two towns and communities manifest itself through football. Y’all vs. Us is published by the Mississippi Sports Council and a portion of proceeds from each book sold helps benefit the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA). Featured rivalries were nominated by the MHSAA and then whittled down through a variety of painstaking techniques. Each rivalry was researched by conducting one-on-one interviews on each of the 30 campuses. Over 600 individuals ranging from coaches, players, cheerleaders, principals, booster club members, media members, and town mayors were included in the interview process. In order to maximize exposure of each of the 15 rivalries in the book, a separate commemorative dust jacket has been produced for each rivalry. Dust jackets feature custom studio photographs of actual players and cheerleaders from each school. The initial distribution of books was sent to the booster clubs of the involved schools to serve as a fund raiser. Y’all vs. Us follows the highly successful 2007 release Gridiron Gold. |
