What the Arrows Say About Madison Central...
If either school knew how similar they were to the other, they would be disgusted with themselves.
J. Reeves
Clinton Principal
The 1999 loss to Madison Central was the worst loss I’ve ever been a part of. We just collapsed.
Scott Brown
Clinton Head Football Coach
When Clinton beats Madison Central, the Clinton people really feel good about it. It’s a competitive deal in every sport from the Clinton people’s standpoint.
Danny Davis
Clinton P.A. Announcer
Clinton High School football is a big deal in Clinton. The community is involved with every game, but when it comes to Madison Central, they turn it up a notch.
C.J. DeLoach
Former Clinton Cheerleader
I was stopped in the hall at school one day by an administrator who commented, “You are wearing an orange shirt.” I immediately responded, “No, it’s not – this is salmon. I do not own anything orange.”
Debbie Turman
Clinton Booster Club Treasurer
We think of them as stuck up, preppy people from Madison Central.
Anna Kate Jackson
Clinton Cheerleader
They say it’s not as big a deal to them as it is to us. I will go to my grave saying they want that game just as much as we do for the rivalry aspect.
Brett Robinson
Clinton Assistant Football Coach
Overall, we don’t like Madison.
Amber Smith
Former Clinton Cheerleader
and Student Body President
I would say Clinton people think the people from Madison believe they are a little better than they are.
Danny Davis
Clinton P.A. Announcer
It was an intentional thing last year (2007) when the Madison Central players and fans came onto our field to celebrate and would not leave. It was as if they were thinking, Let’s go stomp all over that big arrow! It infuriated all of us.
Debbie Turman
Clinton Booster Club Treasurer
My guy friends who know girls from Madison Central say they are preppy or they think highly of themselves.
Anna Kate Jackson
Clinton Cheerleader
Our schools are always butting heads.
C.J. DeLoach
Former Clinton Cheerleader
The rivalry got started when Coach Justice and Coach Bradberry were going after it.
Brett Robinson
Clinton Assistant Football Coach
The people in Madison probably think Clinton is riding its tradition and isn’t as good as it used to be in the old days.
Danny Davis
Clinton P.A. Announcer
Personally, I try not to like them.
Amber Smith
Former Clinton Cheerleader
and Student Body President

What the Jaguars Say About Clinton...
Before this school was built, Clinton was the trophy school in Mississippi. We think we are the trophy school now. I’m sure they will argue that point, but we think Madison Central has replaced them. This rivalry goes much deeper than football. It’s about everything. It’s about our communities, our schools, our academics and our athletics – the whole pie. Football is just a piece of it.
Bobby Hall
Madison Central Head Football Coach
We consider Clinton a historical rival. Clinton gauges their year on whether they beat us.
Mark Carlson
Madison Central Booster Club President
Clinton and Madison Central’s visions are the same. We both want to turn out National Merit Finalists, and we want to do well at everything we do. It’s obvious that they take a lot of pride in their school. The same thing is true over here.
Mike Kent
Superintendent of Madison County Schools
Our school is an infant compared to Clinton in terms of tradition.
Tim Shramek
Madison Central Assistant Football Coach
They look at it like, “Those guys at Madison Central have everything.” There is a jealousy factor. It’s kind of funny because they are the ones that just got the beautiful new stadium with turf.
Steve Metz
Madison Central Assistant Football Coach
It’s a very goodhearted rivalry, but there is a rivalry there.
Mark Carlson
Madison Central Booster Club President
There is a lot of mutual respect between the two schools.
Bobby Hall
Madison Central Head Football Coach
I always tell the people in Clinton, “Rivalry? We don’t care about y’all. We don’t even have a pep rally before we play y’all!” Boy, they get mad. I’m just egging them on because it does matter here; but it kills them when I say, “You’re just another game!”
Tim Shramek
Madison Central Assistant Football Coach
Sometimes we refer to them as the Clinton “Errors.”
Mark Carlson
Madison Central Booster Club President
Everywhere J. Reeves has been they have lost.
Steve Metz
Madison Central Assistant Football Coach
They have more of a generational legacy in Clinton, and they probably regard us to some extent as an upstart.
Mark Carlson
Madison Central Booster Club President
We worry about Clinton one week out of 52; they worry about us 54 out of 52.
Tim Shramek
Madison Central Assistant Football Coach
