What the Panthers Say About McComb...The ritual was we would go down and date their girls; they would come up here and date our girls and then we would meet at Dixie Springs and fight about it.
I would rather beat McComb than eat a good meal.
At C.C. Moore Stadium, the McComb band sits in the south end zone and they are real close to the field. Of course, when you are driving toward them, the band cranks it up to raise the noise level.
There are a few schools we play that create a great atmosphere. McComb is one of those schools. When you go to McComb you can feel a football atmosphere. They bring that same atmosphere when they come to Brookhaven.
McComb-Brookhaven is still the biggest rivalry.
I hate playing at McComb because they have those obnoxious cannons. Every time they score, they shoot them off and they are really loud.
Brookhaven and McComb is a war.
We want to beat McComb in everything – football, basketball, baseball, tax revenue, church attendance – everything.
The hospitals, banks, doctors and just about everyone in Brookhaven and McComb has some kind of rivalry going on. I believe it stems from the football rivalry.
A couple of years ago when McComb beat us, you would have thought they won the Super Bowl. It was a huge, huge deal to them.
McComb has always had those lean, long, tall athletes who can run. When you see McComb on film, the first thing you say is, ‘They can run.’
The Brookhaven and McComb football game is as aggressive as it can be without someone going to prison.

What the Tigers Say About Brookhaven...We want to welcome our friends from Ole Brook – Home Seekers’ Paradise.
We love playing Brookhaven, but better than anything, we love ‘whooping’ Brookhaven. If we don’t beat anybody else on our schedule, we have to beat Brookhaven.
When I talk to some of those older former players, they tell me how much better McComb is than Brookhaven. Of course, when I go to Brookhaven, they tell me the opposite. The intensity is still there because everyone knows each other.
I’m sure we’re gonna win this year.
When you are getting dressed to go to the Brookhaven game it’s just a different feeling. I can’t describe it.
Brookhaven always has huge linemen.
Back in the early days, McComb was beating the tar out of Brookhaven.
We’ve got to beat Brookhaven every time. I heard one of our players say, ‘We want to win every game, but Brookhaven is the one game we will not lose.’ We just don’t want to lose against Brookhaven.”
I think the rivalry is going to heat up more and more. No doubt about it.
Brookhaven High School is wide open. That panther is right there in front of the school. It’s an easy target. I think it looks better pink.
