What the Indians Say About Gulfport...Football gets talked about all year round in Biloxi, but you don’t talk about Moss Point, and you don’t talk about Pascagoula. You don’t talk about anybody except that Biloxi-Gulfport game.
My grandmother doesn’t know anything about Biloxi football, but she knows when we are going to play Gulfport.
I think Gulfport is bitter because our school district gets so much money from the casinos and they don’t.

The Biloxi-Gulfport game is intense. The fans are at each other’s throats, the players are at each other’s throats and the coaches are at each other’s throats. It’s the biggest game of the year on the Coast, if not in the whole state.
I always try to shake opponents’ hands after the game, but it’s hard for me to shake hands with a Gulfport player. I don’t think I could ever really be friends with a Gulfport player.
They look like us and they act like us, but there is just something about them. You just hate people from Gulfport.
From kindergarten all the way through high school, everybody really wants to beat Gulfport. It’s like the number one thing a Biloxi student has to do.
Debuys Road divides Gulfport and Biloxi. We didn’t go over there and they didn’t come over here. You didn’t get caught in either town at night; they would give you something you couldn’t wash off.

What the Admirals Say About Biloxi...I have friends in Gulfport that won’t shop at Edgewater Mall because it is in Biloxi. They say they want to leave their tax money in Gulfport.
It must be hard for those Biloxi players to pull off those big white shrimping boots so they can put on their cleats.
When I was a football player at Gulfport, there was no way you could get away with dating a Biloxi cheerleader. It was absolutely inconceivable. By the time my son played in the mid-1990s, things had changed. Heck, he didn’t just date one; he married one.
Biloxi’s new stadium is pretty good, but no matter what they build, it will never be better than Milner Stadium.
I played on a youth baseball team with some guys from Biloxi. They always kind of separated themselves from the rest of us and we wondered why. Then I got to high school and realized that Biloxi-Gulfport is probably the biggest rivalry in the state.
The rivalry is still intense today. If players today see a guy in the mall with a Biloxi hat on, they will look over there and try to figure out who it is; but those players from 40 years ago probably would have run over there and cold-cocked the guy in the back of the head.
When we played Biloxi, we knew we were going to win. When things got tough, they folded and we didn’t. We were just tougher than they were.
We had a highway patrolman come talk to our student body about drinking and driving. He talked about how the Coast was his home and how he was concerned for everyone’s safety. Then he mentioned that he was from Biloxi and everyone started booing him.
When you cross Debuys Road into Biloxi, you have to set your watch back a couple of hours.
When we play Biloxi, the crowds are bigger, the band is louder, the cheerleaders are sharper and the football team is quicker. It brings out the best in every component of the school. It’s good old-fashioned family fun, with a little bit of aggression served on the side.
